Silicone dilators are a treatment that allows you to gradually exercise the area using different sizes. This type of treatment is generally prescribed by a gynecologist, oncologist, sexologist, physiotherapist specializing in the pelvic floor, etc.
Indications: for vaginal discomfort and problems during penetrative intercourse, caused by: - Vaginismus - Dyspareunia - Lichen sclerosus - Vaginoplasty / Neovagina - After gynecological operations - After childbirth or episiotomy or perineal tear - Pain during gynecological examinations or when inserting a tampon - During and after radiotherapy or chemotherapy treatments - Decrease in vaginal size following surgery.
How are dilators used?
It is advisable to wash the dilators with warm water and neutral soap before using them for the first time.
Once used, clean them in the same way and store them completely dry in the bag. The recommended position for inserting dilators is to lie on your back, with your legs bent and slightly apart. However, it can also be used standing up, with one leg raised and placed on a chair. To facilitate introduction, it is advisable to apply a lubricant, or even water, to moisten the tip of the dilator or the entrance of the vagina. Breathe gently and gently insert the smallest dilator into or in the vagina for 8 to 10 minutes, then move it in and out without completely removing it from the vagina. Repeat these movements about 20 times.
It may happen that during the first few uses of the dilators, you can only insert the tip, which is completely normal. Unless otherwise advised by your doctor, you should repeat this exercise 3 times a week for 2 weeks. When you manage to insert the smallest size without problems, we recommend moving directly to the next size and repeating the above process. This also applies when moving to other sizes. Once the introduction of the largest dilator can be done without discomfort, you can consider penetrative sexual intercourse.
